Raw Minerals - Raw Natural Beauty GIVEAWAY Ends 11/25

You might remember that I completed a review recently for Raw Natural Beauty. They have generously offered to sponsor a giveaway and send one of my readers their own Raw Minerals discovery kit! To win, please read through the following and you will find the instructions below.

Here is a partial recap of my review:

Having serious facial imperfections, I am always on the prowl for beauty products that will help conceal some of my acne scars. Can anyone relate? I'm sure that several of you can! Here I am, 32 years old and still dealing with acne and skin problems. It's very difficult to find a product that I enjoy using and works.

Recently, a team member from Raw Natural Beauty contacted me with an incredible offer to review their Raw Minerals discovery kit. Of course I accepted with hopes that this product would boost my self esteem and cover my scars and blemishes. Yes, I was skeptical at first but, as I mentioned above, I enjoy looking for new products.

I have been given an amazing opportunity and would like to share my review with you. During the past couple weeks, I have used these products and I strongly admit, I am impressed!

Let's begin with the contents of my package:

I received the Medium Duo kit $180.00.

Which includes the following:
*Mineral Glow $25.00
*Active Veil $25.00
*2 Active Mineral Foundation's$30.00
*Maximum Coverage Foundation Brush$35.00
*Concealer Brush$20.00
*Multi-Tasking Retractable Brush$15.00
*"How to" DVD

All items arrived undamaged and neatly packaged. The only disappointment is that the kit does not include the Andiroba Botanical Face Primer which is like a moisturizer applied before the make-up.

A hydrating, protective skin primer designed to create a perfect canvas for flawless makeup application. Active botanicals help to reduce pore size and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while imparting a naturally healthy radiance. The weightless texture and cooling touch feel wonderful on the skin.

The mineral foundation was very simple to apply. I used the darker 2 Active Mineral Foundation of the duo for concealing with the brush first and used a small amount on the Concealer Brush for each blemish. Then, I tapped a small amount into the lid and rolled the Maximum Coverage Foundation Brush in the powder, tapped gently on the side of the lid and brushed the foundation into my skin. I did the same thing with the lighter color of the duo, nix the concealer brush. You could actually see the difference and it wasn't a minor change, it was huge! This product was actually covering up my blemishes! I was already feeling giddy about the make-up.

Moving on...
I then tapped a very small amount of the Mineral Glow powder into the lid, swirled the Multi-Tasking Retractable Brush around the lid and gently tapped the brush on the lid. I lightly brushed the mineral glow around the key points of my face that the light shines on. (nose, cheeks, forehead, etc.) It was so light (my preference) that it didn't look too dark, in fact it was a perfect shade.

Again, moving on...

Again, using the Maximum Coverage Foundation Brush, I moved onto the Active Veil. What I love about this powder is that you could use as much or as little as you want. I actually like using more. I tapped the powder into the lid and swirled the brush around, tapping the brush onto the side of the lid. Brushed the powder over my skin and repeated the process while blending the edges of my face for a more blended look.

I have to express my love for the brushes! The bristles are amazingly soft and gentle on your skin. I kept rubbing my fingers over the bristles (make sure your hands are clean!) and compared them to the other mineral brushes that I had in my make-up bag. They don't even come close. I've used 3 different companies now for minerals and this happens to be a new favorite of mine.

What's cookin' in my kitchen tonight?

I'm in the mood for "fresh" and homemade goods tonight. Scouting my cell phone cookbook by Betty Crocker, I found a delicious and simple recipe for Classic Candied Sweet Potatoes which was perfect since my neighbor just brought over a small bag of fresh sweet potatoes from a festival she attended yesterday. (iphone/ipod touch FREE Betty Crocker app. listed at the bottom of my post)

This is the classic made-from-scratch sweet potato recipe. It's easy and can be completely cooked on top of the stove.
Prep Time: 15 min
Total Time: 50 min
Makes: 6 servings

6 medium sweet potatoes or yams (2 pounds)
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
3 tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon salt

1. Scrub sweet potatoes, but do not peel. Place potatoes in 3-quart saucepan. Add enough water just to cover. Heat to boiling; reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer 20 to 25 minutes or until tender. Drain; cool slightly. Slip off skins. Cut into 1/2-inch slices.
2. Heat remaining ingredients in 10-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and bubbly. Add potatoes. Gently stir until glazed and hot.

My husband acquired 4 large uncured and fresh slices of ham from a friend who is opening his own meat processing plant. I thought that I would thaw this package out, season the ham and fry it in a small amount of Olive oil.

My generous neighbor (Same neighbor who shared her potatoes) visited the Amish community this morning and brought me my first loaf of fresh, homemade Amish bread! This bread smells delicious and has been made from scratch by the Amish families in Pontotoc MS. I haven't been to this community as of yet but, I have been planning a trip sometime in the near future. I've been told that they have a wonderful variety of goods and services. I have a deep respect and love for the Amish communities. When I visit, I will share a post with any goods that I purchase.

I will slice the bread and serve it warm with a slice of ham over the top, candied sweet potatoes and green beans on the side with a glass of iced sweet tea. No dessert unless you count the chocolate that we received yesterday from our daughters Girl Scout troop! We'll possible have a chocolate pecan cluster after dinner.

I haven't cooked our planned dinner, I have prepared the potatoes and will begin preparation on our other ingredients in about 30-45 minutes. Yes, I'll update you with how dinner turned out later! This is my first attempt trying the Classic Candied Sweet Potatoes so wish me luck!

If you have time, I'd love to hear what you're "cookin' in the kitchen" tonight!

***UPDATE***

Hmmm, well needless to say that my candied sweet potatoes did not look like the picture from the recipe, lol. They did however, taste great! I would add a little extra brown sugar and butter next time.

My ham? It didn't even taste like ham! I suppose that since it was fresh and uncured, it wouldn't. Our ham looked and tasted just like an oversized pork chop.

The bread is delicious and soft. I have enough bread to make toast with butter and homemade jam in the morning.

Nature's Gate Review & GIVEAWAY! Ends 11/15

I've become a fan of natural products in the last few months. Safer, healthier, and Eco-friendly products is something that I am proud to use in my household, with children running around the house? Why wouldn't I want a safer environment for them?

Recently, I contacted the company Nature's Gate and asked them if I could review a couple of their products. Nature's Gate agreed to providing me with two wonderful products to test out and review for my readers. Even more exciting, they have also agreed to sponsor a giveaway for one of the products that I am about the review. Two winners will be selected to receive a product that I have grown to love.

Before I begin, I'd like to share the Nature's Gate Philosophy and Mission with you. I found it quite interesting and hope that you will as well. Please click on the link above to read the philosophy and mission of Nature's Gate.

Did you know that they are also committed to raising awareness on clean water? You can read more about what they do and how you can help by "Joining Us In Giving The Gift Of Clean Water". I highly recommend reading the entire website at Nature's Gate to find interesting and important information on the company and other features.

As I mentioned above, I had the opportunity in trying two wonderful products.

Chamomile & Lemon Verbena Deodorant Stick- This product arrived just in time for tedious task ahead...chores. First, I took a shower to cleanse off any other trace of deodorant that I had been wearing and applied this product to my underarms. This deodorant is a clear solid that glides on easily without leaving any light colored residue on your clothing. The scent is light yet, pleasant and not overpowering as some deodorant scents.

I had spent hours cleaning and moving furniture around in my bedroom before completing the first "sniff test". My son was sitting there watching me as I raised my underarm to my nose and of course his reaction was "ewe mom!" as he wrinkled his nose up at me. The Chamomile & Lemon Verbena Deodorant Stick had passed it's first round. No disgusting odors and the scent was still there. I thought that I would have to replenish the deodorant but, I was wrong. Next, on to the next task...my closet! You might not think that this would be a big task but, have you seen my closet?! Boxes of odds and ends, magazines, clothing, pictures, and much more loaded my closet where you couldn't find anything. After spending another few hours cleaning, reorganizing, and distributing my clutter into various piles (Keep, toss, donate, etc.) I had performed yet, another sniff test which proved to be a desirable product.

Conclusion? This deodorant is a keeper and at a mere cost of $5.99 for 1.7oz, I'll admit this is worth every penny and I am a frugal shopper.

Our Certified Organic essences are fresh from the field, locally grown in California on land dedicated to growing Nature’s Gate botanical essences. The farm’s water source is derived from the winter rains and snow pack of the Sierra Nevadas.

-No Propylene Glycol
-No Aluminum
-With Baking Soda to help neutralize odor

Pomegranate Sunflower Velvet Moisture Liquid Soap- This happens to be my favorite product out of both items that I tested. The scent is amazing and delicious. (NOT meant to be eaten) I quickly removed the liquid hand soap from my kitchen and replaced it with this bottle. I applied a small amount to my palms and lathered them until I felt it was time to rinse the soap from my hands. Honestly, it felt as if I was applying lotion and didn't want to wash them too quickly. I have grown to love this hand soap and have used it several times since it's arrival. I can feel a noticeable change in the texture of my hands, they seem to have become a little smoother since my usage after a week.

I will definately keep this hand soap in mind for my next purchase. You too can purchase this liquid hand soap at $6.99 for 16 FL oz.

This luxuriant soap creates ultra rich lather and is packed with antioxidants of Pomegrante, Acai and White Tea that help protect hands from the signs of aging. Infused with 7 Natural Moisture Boosters to hydrate so hands never feel dry after washing. Delivers great value, dispensing 250+ pumps (washes) per bottle.

BUY IT:
The products I have mentioned above in my review as well as several other Nature's Gate products are available for purchase online or you may utilize the store locator to find a retailer near you.

WIN IT:
Nature's Gate has generously offered to send two of my readers (1) one bottle of the Pomegranate Sunflower Velvet Moisture Liquid Soap. Please read the directions carefully before you enter.
